5 Strange yet Wonderful Combinations with Chocolate!

1. Chocolate & Bacon   Yep you heard that right! Apparently chocolatier Katrina Markoff, founder of Vosges Haut-Chocolat, combines applewood-smoked bacon and smoked salt with dark milk chocolate in her Mo's Bacon Bar. Who would have thought!

2. Chocolate & Cauliflower  Heston Blumenthal whipped up a cauliflower risotto with a carpaccio of cauliflower and chocolate jelly. The flavours combined turned into something sensational.

3. Chocolate & Black Pudding  just when you thought it couldn't get any stranger! Apparently a mixture of chocolate and cream is combined with blood to make Italian black pudding.

4. Chocolate & Goat's Cheese Chocolatier Paul A. Young is known for combing cheese and chocolate, and surprisingly it's delicious combined.

5. Chocolate & Tomato It's believed that dark chocolate/cocoa adds richness and depth to savoury tomato dishes such as chilli con carne, and smooths the edges of sharp ingredients such as tomato.

So why not be brave and try out these combinations, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Chocolate Chilli a Food Faux pas?

Trends are constantly changing with in the food industry. I've noticed that savoury flavours combined with chocolate, or sweet deserts is the "new thing" these days. To most of us these flavours combined may sound horrendous, however they actually do work and in combination creating a firework of explorative and unique flavours. One flavour that caught my eye in particular would defiantly be chocolate and chilli. I never for thought that it could possibly work, although the spiciness of the chilli is soothed by the sweetness of the chocolate or confectionery. It just gives it that extra "pop" of flavour. What do you think of combining savoury with sweet? and if you could what flavours would you combine? My recomendation of product would be the Green and Blacks Chocolate and Chilli chocolate bar, it's organic too which is an added bonus! Chocolate shavings of this is absolutely delicious on our fluffy organic candy floss.

Chocolate red wine is trending everywhere within the food industry, and I was absolutely thrilled to come across this one which happens to be vegan friendly. I was pleasantly surprised to find this in Sainsbury's and it retails at £6. This is perfect to drizzle on top of a chocolate brownie with a dollop of Booja Booja Ice Cream, or enjoy it on its own.
